This game doesn't just teach education, it also teaches FUN!

Inspired by creepy/bad edutainment games from the 90s, (Sonic's Schoolhouse, I.M. Meen, 3D Dinosaur Adventure: Save the Dinosaurs), Baldi's Basics is a meta horror game that's really weird, with no real educational value to be found. Collect all 7 of the notebooks and escape the school, all while avoiding Baldi. Baldi has many friends in the school that will slow down your progress and put you at risk of being caught, so learn how each character works and how you can avoid their attention. Find and use items to your advantage. Oh, and finally, try not to get the quiz answers wrong.. Each wrong answer makes Baldi angrier..

The latest version of Baldi's Basics Birthday Bash for Mac OS/OSX. To download, press the 'ZIP' option in the 'Download Options' box that is to the right of this description. Download Baldi's Basics Classic for iOS to this game is not what it seems.

Use the WASD keys to move, and the mouse to turn. Left click to open doors and pick up items, right click to use the currently selected item, and scroll wheel to change the currently selected item. Hold down shift to run (Keep an eye on your stamina bar!), and press space bar to quickly look behind you. Escape can be used to pause.

Install instructions

Download the desired .zip file for your platform. It is recommended you download the latest version of the game, as older versions may contain bugs or be missing features from the new,er versions. However, if you enjoy one of an older versions more, feel free to play it! Extract all the files from the .zip file, making sure all the files are in the same folder. The easiest way to do this on Windows is to right click the 'BALDI_X.X.X_Windows.zip' file, select 'Extract All..' and then click the 'Extract' button on the window the pops up. This will put all the files in a new folder of the same name as the .zip file. Activate the game from this new folder, and feel free to move the folder wherever you want, so long as you don't move any files out of the folder.

Linux users, you may have to access the game's permissions and check 'Allow executing file as program' to launch the game.

Android users, follow these steps to install the game:

1. Click the download button next to the file 'BALDI_1.4.1d_Android.apk' on the game's main page.
2. When you click the download button, you will likely see a warning telling you that this kind of file can harm your device, and if you still want to keep it. Tap OK/Yes (Whatever your device says) in order to continue.
3. The file will begin downloading. Once it's finished, one of two things could happen.
   1. You will see the file name pop-up on the bottom of your browser's screen, with an option to open it. Tap open to continue.
   2. You will not be prompted with an option to open. If this happens, go to your device's Files app (May also be called Downloads, or something similar), and navigate to the downloads folder. Find the Baldi's Basics file (Again, it should be called 'BALDI_1.4.1d_Android.apk') and tap it.
4. If a warning telling you your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps through your browser pops up, tap settings to go straight to the settings menu where you can change this option. Turn on the 'Allow from this source' switch for your browser. Then go back to the screen you were on before. Make sure that you turn this option back off once you are finished installing the game to ensure your device is secure.
5. Now you should be on a screen prompting you to install Baldi's Basics Classic. Tap install to start the process.
6. Once the app is finished installing, you should be able to tap 'Done' to leave the screen, or 'Open' to go straight into the game! Enjoy!
7. Again, if you enabled the ability for your browser to install unknown apps during this process, it is highly recommended you go back into settings and disable this option again for your device's security, unless you regularly install apps through your browser.

Ever since the Baldi's Basics Kickstarter was successfully funded, I've been working on a full version of the game, now officially titled Baldi's Basics Plus! This demo shows a new mode that will be coming to Baldi's Basics Plus, the challenge mode! There are three challenge maps to experience in this demo, but there will be many more to unlock in Baldi's Basics Plus!

Speedy Challenge

It's just you and Baldi in this challenge. The catch is, both of you move super fast! Can you think fast enough to collect 25 notebooks and escape the school?

Stealthy Challenge

You've snuck in school after hours! Surely Principal of the Things will be after you. Use dirty chalk erasers, lockers, and your map to avoid being seen and collect 7 notebooks.

Grapple Challenge

You're legs might be broken, but thankfully you're equipped with an infinite use grappling hook! See if you can outwit Baldi and his friends when this is your only way to move!

Remember, this demo is for a game that is still in development, which means that it will likely show the signs of something that is still a work-in-progress. Not all planned features are in the game yet, even some that were in the original game haven't been implemented yet, since I've been prioritizing other areas of development. So if you see something that seems unfinished, that's because it is!

If you've never heard of Baldi's Basics before, it's important to know that this is not actual edutainment, but it is, in fact, a tongue-in-cheek horror game. It's family friendly, but still includes some things that could scare players. This demo is relatively light on horror-type content though, and the full game will eventually have much more than what is seen here.

In the game you can find settings by clicking on the options option. Here you can change mouse sensitivity and volume, re-map the controls to your liking, and select window and resolution settings.

Is there a Mac OSX or Linux version of this demo?

Unfortunately, due to changes made in the latest versions of Mac OSX, creating Mac builds is a lot more time consuming. As such I likely won't be supporting Mac OSX with this demo. Baldi's Basics Plus will be supported on Mac however.

Currently I am having some errors trying to create the Linux build of the demo. Atem television studio software free download mac. I hope to have them resolved soon!

Where are the random events? Why are there no secrets? Why are all the faculty only rooms so empty?

If you have a question like this, the answer is simple: The game isn't finished yet, and this demo doesn't include everything that's been developed for Baldi's Basics Plus. Some planned features I still haven't developed simply because other things have taken priority. Some features and characters that are currently ready aren't in this demo simply because I didn't feel they were necessary for it.

Can I make mods of this demo?

I love seeing all the mods people make of the original game, but with this demo being for what will be a paid piece of software, I would prefer if any mods created for this were distributed without redistributing the game itself. What I mean is, any mods created for this should be shared by sharing the original files you created, with instructions that explain how users can install those files into their copy of the demo. This is something that will be absolutely necessary for mods of the full game when it releases.

Does this demo have a secret ending?

I'll save you all the trouble and confirm that this demo does not have a secret ending. No unlockables either. The full game will have plenty of secrets though!

This isn't very scary. Is this still supposed to be a horror game?

This demo definitely doesn't have much focus on being creepy, mostly just on gameplay. In the full game, I plan on ensuring the game has more creepy elements to it, although I don't think it will ever be 'scary'. I'm going to go light on the jump scares (The Baldi jumpscare barely even counts as a jumpscare due to how predictable it is) and focus more and giving the game a creepy and unsettling atmosphere.

Will this demo be released for any mobile devices?

Nope, I have no plans to release this on mobile devices.
